Pepper Monroe

Pepper is the Creative Director and Head Plantswoman of Magic Hour.

Magic Hour is one of her favorite things in this world. She’s a lady of the South. Land of Spanish moss and salty watermelon. She comes from a line of dirt farmers who relied on their instinct and connection to the cycles of seasons for their understanding of nature and how to operate on the land. So, from a very early age, she looked forward to all that. To the seasons turning and nature taking its course. She was very aware that she was part of the wilder world, that she sprang from the soil, and as long as she followed the natural rhythm of things, she’d be okay.

Totally unconventional and largely self-taught, her understanding of gardening and design comes from years and years of devoted study and microscopic observations of the plants themselves. She has worked in close collaboration with herbal mentors, horticulture masters, vegetable farmers, and genius outdoor designers for nearly two decades.

Pepper is also proud to be a part of a vibrant and supportive community of local nurseries & flower farmers, floral creators, and growers in the region who all inspire each other with their incredible work and their enthusiastic blooms.

Her favorite flower is Hellebore, beloved for its gothic charm and quiet, mystical powers and it is one of the first to eagerly emerge after the long winters.
