Magic Hour Gardening believes in thoughtful, contextual design that honors the history of the land and a creative open-hearted approach to business and collaboration. There is a growing interest in the health of the planet, restoring native species that thrive in the Hudson Valley, a longing for local community and for the rhythms of nature. We want you and your guests to feel something that is real and that starts with being present where our feet are.

We commence with a site visit, wandering the expanse of your property together. As we explore, we will delve into the nuances of the current landscape, share ideas, and cultivate visions for your ideal outdoor space. Following our exploration, we will craft a comprehensive plan that outlines the thoughtful placement of plants and flowers, the outdoor layout, color palettes, and a tailored maintenance package designed to embrace the dynamic rhythms of the natural environment across all four seasons

Our garden designs often celebrate native species and the beloved pollinators that sustain them, arranged in an informal, meadow-like tapestry. Serpentine, unrefined paths meander through vibrant stands of materials like Echinacea interspersed with Wild Bergamot, fragrant Anise Hyssop, and the cherished Milkweed. This diverse assembly of feathery foliage and grass plumes weaves together a rich matrix of colorful verdure, wildflowers, and creeping ground covers. Such dense, diverse plantings are captivating but also minimize the opportunity for weeds to take root, stabilize the soil, conserve vital resources, and reduce maintenance efforts once established. Our main goal is to honor and nurture the existing natural resources and flora, creating a thriving habitat for local vegetation and wildlife.
Our services extend to the design of sustainable, organic vegetable gardens, as well as kitchen, medicinal, and cut flower gardens, in addition to restoration, maintenance, and harvest.
